Pieceful Quilting Fashion Competition

Calling all tween, teen and college students...Do you have runway fashion aspirations? 

• Do you think you have what it takes to be a clothing designer?
• Do you love a fashion challenge?  

If you have answered yes to either of the above questions then Pieceful Quilting has just the challenge for you.

Angie and the Pieceful Quilting staff challenge you to create the most awesome original boyfriend shirt.  For $15 we supply the plain jane boyfriend shirt and the rules...you supply the creativity.

Beginning February 1^st -l April 30, 2012 entrants can pick up their "Kit". Each “kit” contains 3 men’s dress shirts in different colors.  The challenge is to create another garment using the elements of the three shirts. The garment can be any kind including pants, shorts, skirt, a different blouse, dress, vest. All three shirts must be used in the newly created garment. Additional fabrics and embellishments may be used. Entries must be accompanied with a completed entry form.

No entries will be accepted after the deadline of April 30, 2012. All entries must be dropped off at the EAST NORTHPORT STORE and the entries will be on display in the EAST NORTHPORT STORE ONLY.

The East Northport store located at 3027 Jericho Tpke in East Northport and will have open sewing sessions to help you stitch your way to victory!  At each open sewing session entrants may come down to the Riverhead or East Northport location to use their sewing machines and/or seek technical assistance.

Open sewing dates for East Northport are: Thursday, Feb 16 – 2:30 – 5:30pm
Tuesday, Feb 21 – 10 – 2pm
Saturday, Mar 10, 2 – 4:30pm
Wednesday, Mar 14 – 2:30 – 5:30
Monday, Apr 9 – 11 – 4pm  Saturday
Apr 28 – 2 – 5:30pm

Deadline for Entries is April 30th and winners will be announced on May 5^th.

All entries will be on display in the East Northport Store from April 30 through May 12^th. New creations will be judged by a panel of sewing experts including staff member, Nancy Benardello, former director of the Suffolk County 4-H program and Doris Murmello, retired Family and Consumer Sciences educator. Garments will be judged based on creativity, adherence to the rules, and technical skills. There will be two age categories with Grand Prize winners selected from each bracket. Teen for sewers ranging in age from 14-18 and Adult for sewers ranging in age from 19-25. Prizes: Grand Prize is a Baby Lock sewing machine valued at $499!! Second Prize is a basket of essential sewing supplies valued at $150!! Third Prize is a $100 gift certificate to Pieceful Quilting!!
