'Extremely Affectionate' Vonnie: Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week

NORTHPORT, NY — Vonnie, a 1-year-old female cat with silky black fur, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.

Vonnie was rescued from a kind woman's backyard after she had four babies, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue.

"Vonnie was still a kitten herself when she became a mom, and she fiercely protected her children," Wild said. "She took such good care of her kittens and with so much love, it was amazing to see. Vonnie is very laid back and extremely affectionate."

When she was in foster care, she followed around her foster family like a dog, according to Wild. She reached up to them for affection.

She is currently at Petco Commack and has proven she adapts quickly to change and gets along with other cats.

"She is truly a perfect little girl," Wild said. "She is such a gentle soul and seems happy to be safe and loved. She deserves a family of her own, and we would love to see this young girl finally be able to enjoy the kittenhood she never had."

Vonnie is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
