EAST NORTHPORT, NY — An East Northport home burst into flames on Thursday morning. The East Northport Fire Department responded to the Fifth Avenue home at 11:15 a.m.

Crews worked aggressively to douse the heavy fire in the back of the home under the guidance of chiefs Dan Flanagan and Tom Bourne. Firefighters searched the home to ensure everyone had made it outside. The firefighters confronted multiple challenges, however, including blocked entrances and multiple people still inside the home. Despite that, the team managed to start spraying the fire within 10 minutes of receiving the alarm.

The fire was put out with minimal extension to other areas of the house. Still, firefighters battled the blaze for over two hours.
