Fr. Judge K of C Columbiettes "Dress a Girl Around the World"
For more than a year the ladies of the Fr. Thomas A. Judge Columbiettes have been making dresses for needy young girls all over the world.
For more than a year the ladies of the Fr. Thomas A. Judge Columbiettes have been meeting once a month at the K of C hall in East Northport to make dresses for needy young girls. The handmade dresses are then
personally distributed all over the world by various missionary organizations including Doctors without Borders and others. "Dress a Girl Around the World" http://www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.com is a program of Hope 4 Women International (a 501 (c) 3 organization) a nondenominational independent Christian organization whose motto is "We dream of a world in which every girl has at least one new dress. We want girls to know that they are worthy of respect, and that they are loved by God."
The Fr. Judge Columbiettes add their own little personal touch by including a pair of handmade dolls in the pockets of each dress (see photos). The Columbiettes and friends have produced over 200 dresses and 150 dolls since their first sewing night last year organized by Agatha Piropato, Leslie Latchford, Karen Bennis and Sue Perillo.
The Columbiettes are always looking for more volunteer dressmakers. No experience is necessary and it's open to all (non-sectarian). For more information, please contact Sue Perillo (631-754-8606) or Agatha Piropato (631) 499-7138).
