Funeral Services Set For LI Father Of Marist Student

Paul Kutz will be laid to rest on Monday. The family asks that donations be made to Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — Paul Kutz will be laid to rest.

His funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Of Padua Church, at 20 Cheshire Place, East Northport, the Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home of Northport announced.

Kutz, 53, is survived by his wife, Nathalie, and three sons, Matt, Ryan, and Sean.

Instead of flowers, donations in Kutz's honor may be made to Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center, at 33 Warner Road, Huntington, in recognition of Kutz's love for dogs, Huntington Now reported.

Kutz was killed on Oct. 2 when he was hit by a stray bullet at a Courtyard by Marriott during a family weekend event hosted by Marist College, police said. Roy A. Johnson Jr., 35, and Devin M. Taylor, 26, were arrested in connection with the shooting.

Long Island is mourning Kutz, whose three sons graduated from the Northport-East Northport School District.

The school district's mental health staff are ready to help any student or staff member struggling with the news. The district is available to provide resources and counseling for those in need.

Lynn Cromeyn, the band director at Northport High School, taught Matt for four years. She believes his hardworking and politeness came from his father.
