Grayson, 'Been Through So Much': Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week

NORTHPORT, NY — Grayson, a kitten around 18 months old, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.

He is "the most affectionate cat you will probably ever meet," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

Grayson was rescued from a colony — he was found shivering cold, dirty, and scared.

"This poor baby was more than likely abandoned there," Wild said. "He had no idea how to be a tough cat, he was constantly asking his feeders to help him. Fortunately, one of our wonderful volunteers finally did, and took Grayson into foster care where he thrived."

Then, Wild said, the unimaginable happened.

"If what Grayson went through wasn’t enough, he was adopted twice though our rescue and returned twice through no fault of his own; once because the dog he was adopted with did not like him and once because there was a child in the home that was not gentle enough with him. He is so sad and nervous in the habitats, and we want to get them out as soon as possible."

Grayson has already been through "so much," Wild said. He is too nervous with other pets. Grayson would have to be someone's only fur baby.

"But honestly, he seeks so much love and affection that he is all anyone will ever need," Wild said. "He will sit on your chest and rub his whiskers all over your face. He is the ultimate couch potato buddy and will give you snuggles for as long as you want them. This one is a dream … if you would like to meet this sweet boy, he is currently at Petco Huntington and will perk up the minute someone visits him. He is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
