NORTHPORT, NY — Grayson, an 18-month-old boy, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.

He is the "most affectionate cat you will probably ever meet," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

Grayson was rescued from a colony and found shivering, cold, dirty and scared. Wild believes he was likely abandoned.

"He had no idea how to be a tough cat, he was constantly asking his feeders to help him," Wild said. "Fortunately, one of our wonderful volunteers finally did, and took Grayson into foster care where he thrived. Estimated to only be around 18 months, he has been through so much, and because of his time outside, Grayson is too nervous with other pets. Grayson will have to be someone's only fur baby, but honestly, he seeks so much love and affection that he is all anyone will ever need."

He will sit on a person's chest and rub his whiskers all over his or her face.

"He is the ultimate couch potato buddy and will give you snuggles for as long as you want them," Wild said. "This one is a dream…if you would like to meet this sweet boy, he is currently at Doggie Dons in Northport and will perk up the minute someone visits him. Be ready because we guarantee you will fall madly in love with him!!"

Grayson is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.

The Northport Cat Rescue Association scheduled an adoption event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Petco Commack, at 30 Veterans Memorial Highway, Commack.

"Come on down and meet many kittens and cats and help give them their happily ever after!" Wild said.
