Harley Avenue Second Graders Become Teachers for the Day
The students researched, planned and taught the lesson to kindergarten students.

Second grade students at Harley Avenue Primary School in the Elwood Union Free School District assumed the role of teachers and invited kindergarten students into their classroom for a nonfiction literacy reading experience.
For the visit, second-graders were tasked with selecting a nonfiction topic to research, plan and teach to the kindergarten students.

To accompany their presentation, each second-grader designed a poster, which included the name of the topic, an illustration and photo caption that was displayed at their teaching area.
Kindergarten students traveled around the classroom with a Learning Passport that helped them keep track of the five second-grade students they visited and topics they learned.
