Second graders at Harley Avenue Primary School in the Elwood Union Free School District celebrated their writing accomplishments at a writing picnic party.
Students and family members sat outside on blankets and chairs and enjoyed a picnic while sharing many of their writing pieces on Monday, June 8.

They sat with cookies, ice tea and lemonade while students read their poetry, narrative, informational, opinion, lab report and friendly letter writing pieces to family members.
Teacher Deanna Cammarata handed students a certificate for their hard work and for demonstrating growth in their writing skills.

“They are so excited,” said Cammarata. “All month they have been talking about it and today is the day so they are all smiles.”
