Huntington Bakery Owned by Suffolk DA's Deputy Chief of Homicide is Set to Open
Robert Biancavilla, who has sold bakery items at the Northport Farmers Market for years, is finally opening a fully-equipped bakery.

The founder of Duck Island Bread Company is not your average baker. Robert Biancavilla is the deputy chief of homicide for the Suffolk County district attorney.
Despite his day job, Biancavilla decided to found the Duck Island Bread Company, a genuine scratch-bakery, in 2012.
After years of selling products at the Northport Farmers Market, he has finally expanded his business to open a fully-equipped bakery in Huntington, Newsday reports.

The Duck Island Bread Company, located at 201C E. Main St., will officially open Saturday at 9 a.m.
According to Duck Island Bread Company’s Yelp page, Biancavilla “handcrafts each and every loaf of bread and pastry from scratch in small batches, using only the finest quality ingredients.”

Biancavilla, who doesn’t plan on retiring from his day job for another year and a half, will only have his bakery open on Saturdays for the time being, according to Newsday.
The homicide chief looks to rent out his fully-equipped bakery to aspiring bakers and entrepreneurs when he’s not using the space for himself, thecompany’s twitter page says.
Biancavilla still plans on selling his bakery items at the Northport Farmers market on Saturdays, Newsday reports.
