Huntington Hospital Gets Helicopter to Airlift Patients in Need

The SkyHealth helicopter is able to get patients lifesaving care more quickly than regular ground transportation.

HUNTINGTON, NY- Patients in critical condition can now be taken to Huntington Hospital at speeds up to 135 miles per hour thanks to new air transportation offered by Northwell Health's SkyHealth program.

The SkyHealth helicopter is able to get critical patients lifesaving care more quickly than regular ground transportation.

“For people who have experienced trauma or are having a medical emergency, it is important to get patients to the care that they need as quickly as possible,” Gerard Brogan, Jr., MD, executive director of Huntington Hospital, said. “We appreciate the Town and SkyHealth working with us to make this possible.”

Huntington Hospital has been using its helipad on Mill Dam Road, located a short distance from the hospital, since the program was approved by the Town.
