NORTHPORT, NY — Crab Meadow Beach is set to be renamed in honor of Frank P. Petrone, a former Town of Huntington supervisor, the township announced.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 14, at Crab Meadow Beach, located on Waterside Avenue in Northport.

Petrone served as town supervisor from 1994 through 2017. During his record 24-year administration, Petrone was instrumental in the preservation of both the Crab Meadow Beach coastal wetland system and Crab Meadow Watershed, according to the town.
