Junebug, 'Sweet As Pie': Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week

NORTHPORT, NY — Junebug, a 14-month-old female tuxedo, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.

Junebug was found lost or abandoned in a neighborhood, scared and sad, hiding in shrubberies until she was rescued, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

"In foster care she was sweet as pie and then was placed in our habitats at Petco Commack," Wild said. "There she was so frightened and nervous that she started pulling her hair out. Her eyes were filled with worry, and so she had to go back into foster care."

Wild said it is not always easy getting a cat adopted out of foster care, but the rescue is going to try so Junebug never has to feel that upset again.

Junebug loves people and will ask for pets for as long as someone is willing to give them to her, according to Wild.

"We are not sure what happened to sweet Junebug, but she does need to be an only pet in a home as she gets too nervous around other fur babies," Wild said. "All she wants is to feel safe and to snuggle with you. She didn’t even know what to do with toys at first, and now she will wait patiently for someone to play with her. Still, her favorite thing to do is to cuddle with you. All Junebug wants is to feel safe and loved. If you are looking for an only pet, she is your girl."

Junebug is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
