KODIAK to perform Concert Fundraiser @ Npt. Community Theater (Brosnan Building on Laurel Ave.) Wednesday May 6 @ 7 pm
Northport band KODIAK performing a fund-raiser concert Wednesday May 6 at Northport Community Theater 7 pm; Dori-Jo Gutierrez opens

The Northport Community Theater is pleased to announce an upcoming, not-to-be-missed Concert Fund Raiser featuring the exciting new local band Kodiak. The concert will be held at The Brosnan Building Auditorium, 158 Laurel Ave., Northport, on Wednesday, May 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door; the $10 admission is strictly to benefit and support The Northport Community Theater, so this nominal ticket fee will not only offer the chance to experience this break-out band live and in person but will also help support one of the treasures of our community. Kodiak features high school students/musicians Richard Orofino, Matt Louis, Jack Burns and Jeremy Zmoos. The band has already earned a loyal following among Northport High School students and other local area folks by way of numerous school performances and featured turns at The Paramount in Huntington and at Hofstra University. Kodiak’s well-received first album, (featuring many crowd favorites including Embers, Tuesday, and Duck Island), came out in January and is available for listening and purchase through the website Bandcamp. Their debut album highlights Kodiak’s unique sound which has been described as a cosmic blend of sixties & surf with a twinge of modern influenced by the beauty of nature to be found not only locally but also in such diverse, ruggedly- beautiful locales as Kodiak, Alaska, whence the band derived its name. Kodiak counts Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Yes and Real Estate among those who have influenced their sound. While enjoying the quick success and popularity of their first album titled, simply, Kodiak, the boys are having a great time working on their second; they will be performing selections from both at the Concert.
Opening for the band on May 6 will be Community Theater veteran performer Dori-Jo Gutierrez performing a selection of vocal/acoustic folk/soft-rock tunes.
