Man Dies In East Northport House Fire

The man, 68, died Monday morning, police say. His wife and son, who also live in the home, were brought to the hospital.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — A man was killed in an East Northport house fire on Monday morning, Suffolk police said. A 911 caller reported a fire at 257 4th St. at 6:50 a.m., prompting Second Precinct officers to head to the house.

Edward Woiczechowski, 68, was pronounced dead in his home by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Woiczechowski’s wife, Cheryl, 62, and son, Robert, 33, who live in the home, were treated for smoke inhalation at Stony Brook University Hospital.

The fire is non-criminal, according to the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives who did a preliminary investigation.
