Merry, 'Total Lap Cat,' Is Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week

NORTHPORT, NY — Merry, a 5-month-old female tabby, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.

Merry was rescued from an apartment that had many cats and kittens in the yard looking for food, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. Merry was just a kitten, alone and trying to survive among many.

"She was so adorable and seemed friendly and when she was trapped and taken into rescue, we quickly realized she was a total love bug," Wild said.

Once she went into foster care she was calm, relaxed and so thankful to be warm, cozy, and safe, Wild said.

"Merry loves being held and is a total lap cat, making biscuits and purring up a storm," she said. "She gets along with other cats and is curious and silly. She has soft and thick fur with the cutest short legs, she is absolutely adorable."

Merry is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.

The Northport Cat Rescue Association is set to host an adoption event Saturday, Jan. 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Petco Commack, at 30 Veterans Memorial Highway, Commack.

"Come on down and meet Merry and all her friends!" Wild said.
