Middle School Football Player From Northport Airlifted to Hospital for Injury
The 12-year-old suffered a head injury Monday night at Finley Middle School in Huntington.

A 12-year-old football player from the Northport-East Northport School District was airlifted to a local hospital Monday night for an injury sustained during a game, authorities say.
About 20 Greenlawn firefighters responded to Finley Middle School, located at 20 Greenlawn Road in Huntington, at around 6:08 p.m. after Huntington School District personnel requested the Greenlawn Fire Department to respond to the game.
A paramedic evaluated the 12-year-old player and determined that he should be transported to an appropriate trauma center for further treatment.

Third Assistant Chief Angelo Santomauro requested the Suffolk Police Medivac helicopter, which airlifted the boy to Stony Brook University Hospital. Two Greenlawn fire trucks helped secure the helicopter landing zone, which was on the school's football field.
Two Greenlawn Rescue Squad ambulances along with the Greenlawn/East Northport Fire District Paramedic responded to the incident. All units were under the command of Santomauro.
