MILESTONE FOR ELWOOD LIBRARY DURING LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH
Elwood Public Library registers its 10,000th patron library card

Elwood, NY – September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the libraries of Suffolk County join with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that every student has the most important school supply of all – a free library card. During this month, the Elwood Public Library is celebrating the registration of its 10,000 patron.
“Elwood Public Library’s 10,000th patron is a 2 1/2 year old girl named Maria. Maria and her family will now be able to participate in the many wonderful programs and services we offer for newborns to senior citizens,” said Susan Goldberg, Elwood Library Director.
A library card is your ticket to joining the millions of Americans that now turn to libraries such as Elwood on a regular basis as their source for books, DVD movies, digital music, and even help jump-starting their career. Students can use their library cards from home, too. The library offers access to important educational resources like online homework help, encyclopedias, online databases, and more.
If you don’t already have a library card, then be sure to stop by your local public library. If you have one, but know a friend or young person who doesn’t, bring them to the library to get a card. It’s quick, easy, free, and you’ll open yourself to a whole new world of information, entertainment and opportunity. For more information, check out your local library. Remember, a library card is the key that opens the door to all the knowledge in the world.
