NORTHPORT, NY — Double, a 5-year-old male, was named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's featured pet.

Double was part of the association's LIU Post Campus rescue. He frolicked happily on campus with the rest of his pals, until sadly they were told they needed to be re-homed, Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, said.

"Northport Cat Rescue was lucky enough to save Double and a few of his pals," she said. "Double is so sweet that it is clear he was probably someone’s pet and was abandoned at LIU. He made the best of a sad situation and made a new life at LIU and made many friends. Now, Double finds himself in a cage in one of our habitats, where although he is safe, he once again is looking for a new home and family to finally call his own — forever."

Double has stolen the hearts of all volunteers at the rescue, according to Wild.

"The minute the cage door is open, he comes forward, bowing his head for some love and petting, especially loving his ears scratched," she said. "He loves to be brushed, and even wants some belly rubs. He has a wonderful appetite yet is so patient and polite waiting for his meals. Double always has a curious look in his eyes, perhaps wondering why he has not been adopted yet? He is incredibly special to our rescue and we hope to find him the family he deserves, who will never abandon him again."
