Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Forest

NORTHPORT, NY — Forest, a 6-year-old cat, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Pet of the Week.

Forest lived in a home with his mom and some other cats, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue. He loved his life until his mom died.

"Poor Forest and his friends found their lives turned upside down," Wild said. "This beautiful boy does not truly understand what happened to his mom, his friends or his world."

Forest had a bout with stomatitis when he was just 1 year old, according to Wild. He needed to have all his teeth extracted as a result. Cats eat and manage completely fine without teeth, and he eats his food and treats without issue, Wild said. Forest does not need a special diet. He recently had a check-up and was given a clean bill of health.

"Forest may be grieving for his family, but whenever our volunteers arrive at the habitat in Doggie Dons in East Northport where he currently is, all he wants is human touch," Wild said. "Forest is a total mush ball. He loves pets and to be brushed. Everyone that meets him falls in love with him. He gets along with other cats and he probably misses his furry friends. If only he understood that someday someone will come along and love him and make him feel safe once again. All he wants is to be warm and cuddly by someone’s side again. Forest is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
