Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Fred

NORTHPORT, NY — Fred, a 10-month-old kitten, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.

Fred needs some extra help finding a home, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue.

"Sometimes a kitty goes into our habitats, and although, it is always nerve-wracking at first, most fur babies relax quickly with the help of our wonderful volunteers," Wild said. "But every once in a while a kitty gets so upset that we have to remove them and put them back into foster care. These kitties are very loved but sadly it does take much longer for them to find their forever home. Fred is one of those kittens. His little heart was racing so terribly in the habitats, it was decided the best place for Fred to be promoted from is foster care."

Fred would be a fun addition to a family, especially one that has other cats, Wild said.

"He is a gorgeous-and modest-cat. Shy around new people but once he gets to know you, he will smother you with love and affection."

Fred loves to play with other cats and is very silly, as he will run around begging the others for play time but then relax in a sunny window. He will come when called and even though he does not love to be picked up, he will cuddle with people and loves affection.

"He has the cutest little meow, and will ask you for his favorite treat, some chicken," Wild said. "Since Fred is timid at times, he would do best in a home without young children but would absolutely love to have some cat siblings to play with. If you would like to meet Fred let us know! Fred is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
