Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Midnight

NORTHPORT, NY — Midnight, a male long-haired cat between 1 and 2 years old, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.

Midnight was abandoned and left behind in an empty home, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the shelter.

"Neighbors heard a cat crying and found him alone, scared and hungry," Wild said. "They fed him and checked on him daily while trying to get him into a rescue."

The cat rescue took in Midnight and found him the "sweetest and kindest soul," according to Wild.

"Midnight, with his soft and beautiful fur, is shy at first, but in just a few days with some patience his adorable personality comes out," Wild said. "Even while timid, he can be pet, and will push his head into your hand for affection. He loves to be spoken to and will sit next to you as you speak to him just looking into your eyes and listening."

Midnight may have lived with dogs because he’s not afraid of them, Wild said.

"He has the cutest meow, and when introduced slowly to other cats, he talks to them. This sweet boy is just so gentle, it is heartbreaking to think he may have been part of a family that left him behind. Animals are forgiving and we know Midnight holds no grudges and is just looking to be part of a family that will never abandon him again."

Midnight is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
