Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Mr. Meow
Mr. Meow, who's almost 5 years old, is "once again in desperate need of some human kindness," says the Northport Cat Rescue Association.

NORTHPORT, NY — Mr. Meow, who is nearly 5 years old, was named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Pet of the Week. He is in "desperate need of some human kindness to give him the life he truly deserves," says volunteer Lora Wild.
"Mr. Meow was surrendered to us early in May when his lovely mom that saved him from the streets passed away," Wild told Patch. "Although he does not like to be picked up, he is VERY loving and affectionate. He is shy, but loves kind words and gentle hands."
Mr. Meow is FIV positive, according to Wild. FIV Positive is short for Feline Immunodeficiency virus. It's only contagious among cats and is difficult to transmit, according to Wild.

"Which means if Mr. Meow is your only cat, or if you have another FIV Positive cat, there are no concerns!," Wild said. "With proper introductions to ensure there is no intense fighting, cats with FIV can live happily with other cats with normal day-to-day interaction and never spread their virus. Mr. Meow can live a long and happy life, but he needs to be given that chance."
He has all his shots, is litter box-trained, and micro-chipped.

"Mr. Meow is a perfect match for that family that truly understands the meaning behind the term 'rescue' when adopting a pet," Wild said. "This gentle mush has eyes that tell a heartbreaking story and he desperately needs a break. Whoever is fortunate enough to adopt him will be getting a truly special friend."
