NORTHPORT, NY — Ollie, a 5-year-old male, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.

Ollie, who is front paw-declawed, is a "big ball of mush," according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. His previous owner reluctantly turned Ollie in after she dealt with life circumstances beyond her control, Wild said.

"He is front paw declawed, and although we do not condone any cat being declawed, this is how sweet Ollie came to us," Wild said. "He is a big boy and loves to be pet, hugged, and loved. He is very affectionate. He has beautiful, soulful eyes, that seem sad since losing his home. He is confused, but not resentful, and welcomes anyone willing to show him attention and kindness."

Ollie should be the only pet in the home, but Wild is confident he is the only pet someone will need.

"If you are looking for your best friend, he is your boy," she said.
