Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Pecan

NORTHPORT, NY — Pecan, an 8-month-old female tortoiseshell kitten, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.

Pecan was born outside with her three siblings and was found by the rescue when she was around 5 months old, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the association.

"At first, we were not sure if she could be socialized as she was very skittish and spent most of her time in foster care hiding," Wild said. "Then, something magical happened with Pecan. She felt so much love that she learned to trust and decided that she loved to be pet, loved to snuggle, and loved to sleep in a warm bed with her foster mom."

Pecan very much enjoys playing with other cats and will come to whoever calls her and meow at them until she gets attention, according to Wild.

"The best part of Pecan is to watch her roll over and accept belly rubs for as long as you are willing to give them," Wild said. "To see how much she relishes in the affection is a real testament to the power of love. Her markings are simply gorgeous, and she is patiently waiting for her forever home."

She is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
