Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Raven

NORTHPORT, NY — Raven, an almost-6-month-old female kitten, was named this week's Northport Pet of the Week. She was described as a "playful purring machine."

Raven was found as a young kitten in a Brentwood backyard, with no other litter mates to be found. A volunteer from the Northport Cat Rescue Association scooped her up and was brought to one of its foster homes. She has been hanging out and playing with other kittens, cats and a large cat-loving golden retriever.

"Raven was treated like a princess and likes to be carried around like royalty!," Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue. "Last week, it was time for Raven to entertain a new foster family that includes an adorable 3-year-old child who is helping care for our princess! Raven purrs so loud you can hear her across the room! She will take a little while to trust you like most cats do, but once she does, she will be your loyal companion for life! Although she is thriving, we all know she will need her lifelong family to adopt her."

She is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV Negative.

With the new coronavirus keeping most people at home, Wild encouraged those seeking a new feline friend to add Raven to their family.

The rescue is not doing face-to-face meetings with interested families until the new coronavirus has passed, but they're taking adoption applications to begin the process. Personal information won't be shared, Wild said.
