Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Stevie

Stevie, a 5-month-old male, has watched all his other siblings be adopted ahead of him. Will you be the one to share your home with Stevie?

NORTHPORT, NY — Stevie, a 5-month-old male, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Pet of the Week.

"Some may recognize Stevie from a past Patch article, and that is because he is still waiting for his forever home," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue, wrote in an email. "All of Stevie’s siblings have been adopted, but he has been overlooked over and over again. Stevie loves to play, is affectionate, and adorable. He is vision impaired in one eye only, which is no handicap at all for Stevie. He loves to climb, play and sit in the window and chirp at the birds. Everything is exciting to Stevie."

What makes him special, Wild said, is his eye has slight scarring, which the cat rescue sees as his badge of honor.

"This courageous little boy was found as just a baby with his siblings outside alone, trying to survive," Wild said. "One of his siblings was completely blind but Stevie watched after her and kept her warm and safe until a kind woman called us for help. His sister has since found a loving home, but Stevie still waits. We understand sometimes scarring can make a kitten less desirable to potential adopters, but Stevie has no idea he is any different than the others, and we won’t tell him either. To anyone who meets this sweetheart, he is absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way. We know his family is out there somewhere, and we can’t wait to see him finally find his happily ever after. How wonderful it would be to see him home for the holidays."
