Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Admiral Ackbar & Rey
Admiral Ackbar and Rey, 3-month-old bonded siblings, were named the Northport featured pets of the week. Here's how you can adopt them.

NORTHPORT, NY — Admiral Ackbar and Rey, 3-month-old bonded siblings, were named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.
Admiral Ackbar is a "silly" male black and white kitten with what looks like a patch over his eye, said Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue. His sister Rey is a female black and white little girl with a face full of whiskers.
"Both of these kittens are mushes, purring like a lawnmower the moment you touch them," Wild said.

Both kittens were rescued off the grounds of SUNY Old Westbury. They are a "very special" duo, according to Wild. When the kittens were evaluated, they were deemed so sweet that the rescue allowed them to help with a friend of the association and be temporarily fostered as her family's therapy kittens.
"You see, our friend's husband has Alzheimer’s," Wild said. "Although it can be tough to see what an Alzheimer’s patient is feeling or thinking, there was one thing we were all sure of. When he came to visit our Rey and Admiral, he had pure happiness in his face. He kept saying 'aren’t they lovely' and seemed to be able to swing that feather wand they were playing with forever. NCRA allowed the pair to be fostered by them, and they spent many hours enjoying these amazing kittens. Sometimes the best medicine is love. They were forever grateful for the joy and the smiles they provided."

Rey and Admiral Ackbar are now in a new foster home, still touching the hearts of everyone they meet, waiting for their forever home, according to Wild.
"We would love to see these 2 little love bugs adopted together," Wild wrote in an email. "They certainly deserve a home where they will get as much love as they give."
They are spayed and neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
