NORTHPORT, NY — Bagheera and Binx, 6-year-old bonded brothers, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cats of the Week.

"Sometimes when families have to go their separate ways, the pets are stuck in the middle," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. "Binx and Bagheera’s mom found herself in a situation where she needed to urgently rehome her fur babies. She selflessly surrendered them to Northport Cat Rescue with a heavy heart."

Bagheera and Binx's first night in foster care was the hardest for them, according to Wild.

"Confused and frightened, they looked to us to make some sense of their world being turned upside down," she said. "It didn’t take long for the brothers to snuggle up to us and give tons of love to the new people around them. A testament to how amazing these 2 boys are."

Bagheera and Binx look identical with the exception of a small white patch under Bagheera’s chin. Similar in their personalities, they are both a bit timid when they meet someone new, but come around immediately with gentle words and kindness, Wild said. They love to be pet, cuddled and loved. They will roll on their backs for belly rubs. They can be picked up for hugs. They have lived with a dog and do fine with them.

Bagheera and Binx are front paw declawed, Wild said.

"Our rescue does not advocate declawing, in fact, it is against the law in New York State," she said. "However they came to rescue this way, and so to be sure they are always safe, they need a home with no other cats or dogs that are on the aggressive side. They can never be let outside either. If people were able to see through a pet's eyes and heart, they would realize how difficult it is for a displaced family pet that suddenly finds itself in an unfamiliar place. They are beautiful souls, together since babies, and given how much they have been through, we would like to keep them together, in a home where they will be safe and loved always."

They are neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
