Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Comet And Cosmo
Comet and Cosmo, an 8-month-old brother-and-sister duo, have defied the odds. "We never thought they would survive," the rescue group says.

NORTHPORT, NY — Comet and Cosmo, an 8-month-old brother and sister combo, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.
"When Comet and his sister Cosmo were found, we never thought they would survive," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue, said.
Comet was missing one rear limb and Cosmo was missing two.

"We wondered if they would be able to do all the things that other kittens could do," Wild said. "Ever since that first day, they have exceeded our expectations a little more each and every day."
Comet does zoomies all around the house, according to Wild. Cosmo plays with her brother and tries to keep up.

"There is not one thing Comet can not do and only occasionally, Cosmo needs some assistance with stairs," Wild said. "She is so smart though, she has learned to use her voice and notify the entire household to come help her. They are extremely affectionate and love to snuggle. They are playful and sweet and have overcome every obstacle thrown their way, except for one thing: They have not received one single adoption application since they have been in our rescue."
They have watched all of their other siblings get adopted, however.
"Sometimes it can be scary to take on a special needs pet, but we can assure you that these 2 need no sympathy and can keep up with any other kitten in our rescue," Wild said. "They are not special needs in the eyes of all who know them, only special because of their strength, determination and love of life. Come meet these two warriors. We know if you meet them, you will see how special in every way they truly are, and how they are just like any other rescue kitten just looking for a home together. Anyone who adopts these two will be reminded every day how to never give up and to live life to the fullest!"
Both are neutered or spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
