Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Cosmo, Comet & Costello
This trio has been passed by for adoption multiple times. The cat rescue hopes to find them each a loving home.

NORTHPORT, NY — Comet, Cosmo and Costello are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cats of the Week.
Comet and Cosmo are bonded 8-month-old siblings. Comet is missing one rear leg and Cosmo is missing both. Costello, the cat rescue's longest resident and an FIV-positive feline, is around 5 years old.
"Every once in a while we have a few fur babies, that become long-term residents, through no fault of their own," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue, wrote in an email. "That is what is happening with Comet and Cosmo and Costello. These 3 have been passed by over and over again."

Comet and Cosmo are sweet, affectionate, and playful, according to Wild.
"They climb, they are vocal, they run around and do zoomies," Wild said. "They hide under tables and tap their foster mom's feet as she passes by to play. There is nothing other kittens can do that they can not. They always figure out a way. They are determined to not be judged and be treated any differently than their other foster siblings. As they take care of the younger kittens that come into rescue after them, sleeping with them and comforting them, and watching them get adopted right in front of their eyes, if they could talk, they would say 'why not us?' Comet and Cosmo hold no resentments. They wake up each morning and make everyone smile and be amazed by their determination and silly antics, and will continue to be loved by NCRA until they find a home."

Costello, while FIV-positive, is currently being fostered with seven other cats, sharing litter boxes and food, Wild said. Wild said FIV can only be transmitted to other felines and only through a deep bite wound or occasionally a mother's milk.
"Since Costello is the sweetest and most docile cat you can ever meet, this concerns no one that knows him," Wild said. "Even when he tries to be tough, like when one of the cats he lives with picks on Costello’s friend, Oreo, also in foster care, he will walk up to the bratty cat, stand tall, and then run and hide. It is the sweetest moment to watch him attempt to try and be brave. Costello deserves love. This cat is the most amazing, loving furbaby. All he wants is to lean into your lap, be pet, and keep you company. He is loyal and brave and a gentle soul."
The three cats deserve the same chance as any other potential pet seeking to be adopted, Wild said.
"You have to meet them to fall in love with them," Wild said. "We know if given the chance, you will be amazed by them."
All three cats are neutered or spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV negative. Comet and Cosmo are FIV negative while Costello is positive.
