Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Dexter And Rita

NORTHPORT, NY — Dexter and Rita, bonded 4-month-old siblings who are "EXTREMELY LOVING," were named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's kittens of the week.

Dexter, the big brother, looks after Rita, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue.

"[Dexter] has the cutest tufts of hair coming out of his ears, big paws and a big personality," Wild said. "He likes to eat almost as much as he loves to play and absolutely craves attention! He is described as a big mush."

Rita is regarded as a "dainty little girl," who's proper and has the "best manners."

"She loves to curl up under her Foster moms’ neck to feel her pulse and will melt in your arms, instantly purring when you start to pet her," Wild said.

The kittens are being fostered together with plenty of love, including from three adult cats that they immediately befriended, according to Wild. They enjoy the company of other cats almost as much as that of humans. They'll seek out whoever adopts them for cuddles and adoring headbutts, Wild said.

"Their love for each other is what makes these two siblings so amazing," Wild stated. "They communicate by chirping so that the other one knows where they are. They play and then sack out on the bed together, rolling onto their backs for some belly rubs. They truly are family to each other and want to stay together. They would be a wonderful addition to a loving home."

They are neutered and spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
