Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Skunk And Neon

NORTHPORT, NY — Skunk and Neon, female kittens, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

The two were rescued off the property of a woman who used to feed all the neighborhood strays until she died, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

Skunk is a tuxedo, around 6 months, while Neon is 9 months old.

Skunk loves to be pet and will purr the moment you touch her, Wild said. She is very playful and loves attention.

"When she meets someone new, she is timid but will very quickly warm up and roll around on the floor for affection," Wild said. "She will very gently take treats from your hand and look at you with such soulful eyes, that you will of course have to give her more!"

Skunk is at Petco Huntington.

Neon has silky black fur. She was the mom to many of the kittens that were rescued off the property, according to Wild.

"Just a kitten herself, she had to grow up quickly, keeping her babies safe," Wild said. "Most have been adopted, and now it is Neon’s turn. Now that she is relaxed in rescue, her kitten personality has come out and she loves to play and is full of love and affection."

Neon is currently at Petco Commack, waiting for her happily ever after.

Skunk and Neon are spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
