NORTHPORT, NY — Skylar and JoJo, who are 6-month-old siblings, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

Skylar and JoJo were found as kittens in a colony that was being fed, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue.

"These two babies were no match for the colony, and needed help as the cold winter was getting closer," Wild said. "So the kind feeder scooped them up and NCRA took them into foster care. There they felt safety and love for the first time."

Skylar, a beautiful girl with silky black fur, gets very excited while being pet, and will make biscuits and purr, according to Wild. Her big brother, JoJo, looks out for Skylar and loves to play. He will chase a laser around until he is exhausted.

"They have had some rough beginnings and found it hard to trust people, but with patience their foster dad saw them start to come around, laying next to him on the couch, seemingly comforted by his presence," Wild said. "They rely on each other, since of course they have been together since day 1, and we are sure big brother JoJo took care of Skylar, as she is at ease when he is near her. This is why they need to stay together, but they also need a home and a family that will have patience and give them time to adjust. Neither have a mean bone in their body."

They are currently snuggling together at the cat rescue's habitats at Petco Huntington and are clearly nervous, Wild said.

"They are scared of the unknown. Will they get to stay together? Where are they headed? I imagine these are the thoughts that go through many of our cats and kittens minds. However, kittens and cats that have had rough beginnings sometimes have a much harder time adjusting. Our amazing volunteers are working with them and notice how much they adore each other and how sweet they are. We hope the right adopters will come along and give these two adorable kittens a chance."

Skylar and JoJo are spayed and neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
