Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Stevie And Nutmeg
The 4-month-old siblings were kittens trying to survive on their own, and each seemed to have eye problems. Would you like to adopt one?

NORTHPORT, NY — Stevie and Nutmeg, a pair of 4-month-old siblings, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.
"These amazing little babies were rescued when someone reached out because they were kittens trying to survive on their own and each seemed to have eye problems," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue told Patch in an email. "When they first came into rescue, their little eyes were a mess. With medication and some tender loving care, they are all thriving with vision."
Stevie is a black cat who is blind in one eye.

"But don’t tell him that!" Wild said. "This sweet boy loves to sit in a window and chirp at the birds and watch all the action in the neighborhood. He loves to play with all his toys and to be the daredevil that he is climbing to the top of everything! He is loving and adorable and full of life."
His sister, Nutmeg, who has beautiful markings, is also blind in one eye. While Stevie is more independent, Nutmeg is more needy, according to Wild. She will climb on top of someone for pets and love.

"Her happy place is in your arms, and if you put her down, she will just try and snuggle back in," Wild said. "She has the loudest purr and is very good friends with Sylvia, a previous kitten of the week who remains in foster care with her. It would be wonderful if they were adopted together. They are in competition for love and attention."
Nutmeg is a little wanderer who is always investigating what is going on, Wild said. She too loves looking out the window to see all that is happening.
"These siblings had a rough start and may have a slight handicap, but it doesn’t stop them from having the time of their lives, playing and loving their humans," Wild said. "Their future was scary at first, but now it is bright and full of hope. They are tough and courageous and silly and affectionate. Please don’t pass up these amazing little babies if you are looking to add to your fur baby family. They are very special and deserve a life of safety and love."
They are both neutered or spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
