Northport Boy Scout Troop Postpones Pancake Breakfast
Troop 410's annual Pancake Breakfast for charity was postponed to an unknown date due to concerns over the new coronavirus.
NORTHPORT, NY — Boy Scout Troop 410, based in Northport, postponed its annual Pancake Breakfast charity fundraiser, the organization announced Thursday. The breakfast was scheduled for Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Main Street in Northport Village.
The troop said the decision was made amid growing public concern over the new coronavirus and follows several recent choices by public officials to cancel or postpone local, state and national public events and gatherings. The breakfast was to benefit the Northport-East Northport Ecumenical Food Pantry.
"Troop 410 hopes to hold this event in the near future and will re-evaluate that option when concern over COVID-19 is no longer a major threat to public health," the organization stated. "In the meantime, Troop 410 urges everyone to remember those of us who are less fortunate during these difficult times, and to help when and where you can."
