Northport Dentist Named 'Senior Citizen of the Year'
Dr. Alfred Huberman was honored for his tireless volunteer efforts.
A Northport dentist was recently recognized for his tireless volunteer efforts when he was named “Senior Citizen of the Year” for the 16th Legislative District.
Dr. Alfred Huberman was appointed to this honor by Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern, Chairman of the Veterans and Seniors Committee, at SeniorNet’s 16th annual meeting, held at the Cinema Arts Center in Huntington on Monday.

- He is a dentist with offices in Northport. Huberman has donated orthodontic services to needy children through the Brownsville Boys and Girls Club.
- He is a member of Toastmasters’ International, a non-profit organization focused on developing public speaking and leadership skills.
- He has been a volunteer with SeniorNEt at the Family Service League – Don Weidman Learning Center since 2009, where he would lead computer classes for older residents to empower seniors with technology.
- He coaches classes with the the SeniorNet Mobile Learning Center, teaching computer skills to veterans at the Northport VA Medical Center.
- He serves as Vice President for the Citizens Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities for the Town of Huntington.
“Dr. Huberman has personally reached hundreds of our older neighbors to empower them with education and the tools of technology,” Stern said. “On behalf of all of our residents in the 16th Legislative District, I thank him for his years of service and commitment to our community.”
