Northport-East Northport Admins Buy Meals For Huntington Hospital

The school district's administrators are simultaneously supporting front-line workers battling the coronavirus and local restaurants.

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport-East Northport School District administrators are donating money to cater meals to Huntington Hospital’s essential workers who are on the front lines of the new coronavirus outbreak. The team connected with Northport High School alumnus, Emily Kenney, who is a first-year nurse working in the Intensive Care Unit.

The effort will continue until the money runs dry, Irene McLaughlin, assistant superintendent for Human Resources, said in a news release.

"We not only are lifting the spirits of the medical professionals on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19, but also supporting our local restaurants who are preparing the food," she said. "It’s just a small token of our appreciation for the heroes providing care to the ill and our understanding of the economic crunch this situation is placing on our small, local businesses."
