Northport-East Northport Kicks off the School Year
So long, summer. The first day of school was last week.
The Northport-East Northport School District welcomed back students on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for the 2016-17 school year. Kindergartners started the following day at the six elementary schools in the district on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Throughout the district, students returned eager for the new school year ahead and familiarized themselves with their teachers, peers and school environment. Northport Middle School provided sixth graders with a tour of the building, which included a peek at the school’s new garden.
“There are few days as exciting and full of promise as the first day of school, both for our students and our staff!” said Principal Tim Hoss. “Dr. Brown and I, and our entire staff, are looking forward to meeting all of the social, emotional and academic needs of our students.”
