NORTHPORT, NY--The Northport-East Northport Public Library is planning to honor military veterans with a special showcase. Ink Stories: Symbols of Service is an idea the Library had for an art gallery featuring photographs of military-inspired tattoos and the stories behind them.

The purpose of the exhibit is to give veterans an opportunity to share their tattoos, whether they tell the story of a service member's past achievements or are meant to honor and remember fellow soldiers.

Any veteran interested in sharing the inspiration behind their military tattoo(s) should contact Kathryn Heaviside, the gallery coordinator, at 631-261-6930 or kathryn.heaviside@nenpl.org. Heaviside said she plans to make appointments with the photographer and take photos of veterans now through October, and that the exhibit will run in the gallery of both libraries for the month of November.
