NORTHPORT, NY--Northport-East Northport residents approved a 2019-20 school budget on Tuesday.

The $171,077,668 proposed budget was approved by a margin of 1,553-977. The budget is a 2.56 percent increase from the current year's. It's accompanied by a 2.56 percent bump in the tax levy. That is below the district's tax levy cap, so the budget only needed to be approved by a majority vote.

A proposition to allow the district to use $1.8 million of capital reserves to fund asphalt, concrete and drainage repairs was also passed by residents, 1,908-608. This will bear no additional tax impact on residents.
