The school district's students, teachers, staff and community raised funds and awareness for childhood cancer research and treatment.

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport-East Northport students, teachers, staff and community members gathered at Northport High School’s St. Baldrick’s event on March 6 to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research and treatment, the school district announced in a news release.
As of Friday, the community raised more than $71,000 for the cause and pledged to raise more than $100,000 next year. Top teams included East-Northport Middle School Bald Tigers, Northport Middle School Bald Eagles and Bellerose Fuzzballs.
As donations poured in, hundreds of supporters walked on stage to have their heads shaved. Those who did received a hand-knitted hat and St. Baldrick’s t-shirt to forever honor the cause to fight childhood cancer.
