Northport High School IB Diploma Recipients

From Syntax: Thirty-eight Northport High School seniors recently completed the intensive International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, which only approximately 80,000 graduates world-wide complete each year. Diploma recipients were recognized at a special ceremony on May 30.

This two-year program, created in the 1960’s to promote inquisitive internationally-minded students, requires students to complete six different intense courses that require not only learning the content, but developing an in-depth understanding and appreciation for each subject area.

“The amount of work and dedication required to be successful in this program is unlike that of any other high school program,” said program coordinator Wayne Jensen, “and each student rose to the occasion — becoming remarkable thinkers who actively seek opportunities for independent learning and using their skills to accomplish the incredible.”
