NORTHPORT, NY — Northport High School’s rendition of “Urinetown: The Musical” took home the Hunting-Tony for “Best Musical” this year, the Northport-East Northport School District announced in a news release.

The school's win was announced during last week's award ceremony. The victory reflects the hard work of the school’s talented musicians, actors, actresses, set producers and costume designers. All of the musical theatre students worked together to create the hilarious and poignant musical earlier this year, the district stated.

In addition to “Best Musical,” individual students won in several categories: Dessa Kavrakis
won for Best Supporting Actress, Isabella Corea won for Best Female Vocalist and Luke Frisoli,
James Graziano and Shane McGlone won in a three-way tie for Best Male Vocalist. In total, the school received nominations across 14 categories and was thrilled to see many talented students
recognized.
