Northport HS Students Inducted Into Math Honor Society

NORTHPORT, NY — More than 100 Northport High School students were the first to be inducted into the school’s newly formed chapter of the New York State Math Honor Society on Jan. 13, according to the school district.

The students, all 102 of them, took the Math Honor Society oath, pledging to maintain and model leadership skills, initiative, knowledge and passion as they pursue deeper interests in mathematics.

"I will support all objectives of the Northport High School Math Honor Society," they said.

Superintendent of Schools Robert Banzer congratulated the students and thanked attendees before turning the microphone over to the event’s keynote speaker and salutatorian of the Class of 2018, Nicholas Holfester. The closing remarks were made by October Mathematics Student of the Month Danielle Levanti.
