Northport PD Blotter: Driver Approaches Females On Main Street
The car drove past the girls several times, police say. An officer brought them back to their home.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Sept. 14 through Sept. 20.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A sick raccoon on Burt Avenue was euthanized and disposed of on Sept. 14.
- Police reported to Main Street to speak with a man who said he's looking at possible legal options regarding his daughter's ex-boyfriend and his texting to her. Available information at the time did not appear to cause the situation to rise to the level of criminality, police said. The officer explained the aggravated harassment section of law regarding texting, and told the father his daughter would need to make a report herself if, in the future, anything rose to the level of a crime. The incident was reported Sept. 14.
- Police responded to Church Street for a report of an unwanted text message on Sept. 14. The woman told police she only received the one text and did not have any further contact with the sender. She wanted the report filed for informational purposes.
- A sick raccoon on Crown Hill Road was euthanized and disposed of on Sept. 16.
- A sick raccoon on Burr Avenue was euthanized and disposed of on Sept. 16.
- Police responded to Main Street for a report of a car that approached females. They said an older Toyota Camry, colored tan or gold, drove past them several times. Police brought the girls back to their home. The girls wished to document the incident for informational purposes. Police searched the area for the car but could not find the driver. The incident happened Sept. 16.
- A man fell off a docked boat at Britannia Yachting Center on Sept. 17. Northport Rescue brought the man to Laurel Avenue School to be airlifted by Suffolk County Aviation to Stony Brook Hospital.
- Police responded to Willis Street for a report of unwanted text messages. A parent told officers on Sept. 17 that her daughter received messages from a person she didn't know through social media and wanted to document the incident.
- A vehicle got stuck in the sand on Steers Beach on Sept. 18. Police helped the driver remove the vehicle from the sand.
- A driver fled a traffic agent while citations were being issued, so police responded to the car's last location: Main Street. Police intercepted and stopped the car. The parking citations and appropriate additional traffic summonses were issued to the driver, who was warned and admonished. The incident happened Sept. 19.
- Two men were arguing on the dock of Seymour's Boatyard. An officer spoke with one of the men, who said he got into a verbal argument with another boater. The other boater had left and police couldn't find him. The incident happened Sept. 19.
- Someone vomited on the Main Street sidewalk. Police rinsed the sidewalk with buckets of
freshwater and disinfected the area with bleach on Sept. 20. - Police responded to Church Street for a report of a large bang. It turns out a motorist ran out of fuel on the side of the road. An officer watched the vehicle until it was refueled. The incident happened Sept. 20.
