Northport PD Blotter: Man Drives W/O License, Involved In Crash
ALSO: A large group fight broke out in East Northport, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from May 18 through May 24.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Hector Vaquis, 43, of Brentwood, was involved in a car crash on Norwood Avenue at 1:46 p.m. May 18, police said. He drove without a license and didn't have an ignition interlock device installed in his car, police said. Vaquis was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, installation and operation of ignition interlock D and unsafe lane change.
Incidents
- Police responded to Main Street for a report of smoke coming from a porch. The officer saw a small circular burnt hole on the porch. The officer used a hose to douse the smoking hole and contacted the resident to inform him of the burn. The incident happened May 18.
- Police responded to Highland Avenue for a report of a neighbor dispute. The man who called said he was having an ongoing dispute with his neighbor. He told police he has been following up with his attorney, Detective Peter Howard and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office
with regards to possibly filing charges. The incident happened May 18. - A car was removed from Cherry Street following parking complaints on back-to-back days on May 18.
- Police responded to Seaview Terrace for a report of people yelling. They told the officer they were having a conversation but talking loudly. They agreed to keep the noise down. The incident was reported May 21.
- Police responded to Woodbine Avenue for a report of people yelling. They told police they were arguing over politics. Both agreed to take the subject inside for the night. The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. May 21.
- Northport police responded to Atlantic Street at the behest of Suffolk police who were requesting help in breaking up a large group of people fighting. Northport officers remained until enough Suffolk officers showed up and had the situation under control. The incident happened 1:44 a.m. May 22.
- There was a car crash on Fort Salonga Road around noon May 22. Northport police remained until enough Suffolk officers arrived.
- There was a car crash with injuries on Waterside Road around 2 p.m. May 22. Northport police remained until enough Suffolk officers arrived. Northport Fire Department personnel brought the aided to Huntington Hospital.
- Sewage was coming out of a man hole in the parking lot of Giunta's Shopping Center at 7:10 p.m. May 22. The Village administrator was told.
- A man was harassing the staff of The Crossroads Cafe in East Northport around 10:30 p.m. May 22. Northport police responded and waited until enough Suffolk police officers arrived.
- A woman went to headquarters to report someone signed her up for a monthly subscription to We the People. She said she wasn't billed for the subscription but canceled it anyway. The subscription was supposedly made using a Bank of China credit card. The woman was told to keep an eye on her credit card information and not give out any personal info. The incident was reported May 23.
- A pit bull got loose on Willis Street. An officer found the dog and reunited it with its owner. The incident happened May 24.
