Northport PD Blotter: Man Follows, Screams At Woman Over Driving
Road rage, an unpaid spa bill and a man charged for driving w/o an interlock were a few things police dealt with this week: Northport PD.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from Sept. 2 to Sept. 8.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Roger Fay, 48, of Huntington, was driving a 1999 Dodge westbound on Fort Salonga Road without a seat belt, police said. After police stopped him, they determined Fay was driving without a required interlock device and a mandatory revoked driver's license using EJustice, they said. Fay was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle: refused chemical test, installation and operation of ignition interlock D and no seat belt: driver on Sept. 4, and his car was impounded.
Incidents
- A woman went to Northport Police headquarters to report that her phone stopped working; she got an odd text from Verizon about her account, and that she was unable to use her phone to make a call or text. The incident happened Sept. 2.
- A woman was overdosing on alcohol, so Northport Rescue transported her to Huntington Hospital on Sept. 2 at 11:13 p.m.
- Police responded to Main Street where a woman was locked out of her apartment. Officers interviewed the woman, who was just taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue, who said she was discharged. The woman was escorted back into her apartment through her unlocked window. The incident happened on Sept. 3 at 12:45 a.m.
- There was a motor vehicle crash on Fort Salonga Road on Sept. 3.
- Police responded to a home on Mar-Kan Drive for a dryer fire. There was heavy smoke in the house and basement. The Fire Department said the fire started in the dryer in the basement. Other than the dryer and the smoke condition, there was no damage. The incident happened Sept. 3.
- Police responded to POSH, a spa on Main Street, where a woman had left after only paying part of her bill. Police called the woman, who agreed to return to the spa and pay the remaining bill. The incident happened Sept. 3.
- Police responded to Northport Library for a reported road rage on Sept. 4 at 7:57 p.m. A woman said a man around the age of 50 driving a gray Jeep Wrangler followed her until the parking lot of the library yelling and screaming at her because of the way she was driving. The woman wasn't able to get the man's license plate, so she filed a report for informational purposes.
- Police responded to East Northport Library at the behest of SCPD for a man overdosing. East Northport Rescue transported the man to Huntington Hospital on Sept. 5.
- Northport Police assisted Suffolk Police in searching for someone wanted for criminal contempt last seen northbound on Reservoir Avenue but couldn't find them. The incident happened on Sept. 7.
- Northport Police helped Suffolk Police with a man who overdosed on Sandpiper Lane on Sept. 7.
- Northport Police responded to the Stop & Shop on Fort Salonga Road to help Suffolk Police with reports of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. Officers found the man sitting on a bench outside the store. The man is a resident of the VA Hospital and said he was waiting for a bus back to the hospital. He was calm and not in need of any help. The incident happened on Sept. 7.
- A woman told police she noticed a black 2018 Ford Mustang touching the rear of her silver 2019 Mercedes on Bayview Avenue. When she pulled forward, police noticed the Mustang rolling forward slightly. The officer was able to wedge the Mustang's tires to prevent it from moving and called the owner, who came to the scene. The Mercedes had a minor scratch, which both parties agreed to work out together. The incident happened on Sept. 7.
- Police responded to Fort Salonga Road for a report of three men working on a vehicle. The officer found two men working on it. Police told them they were on private property, so the men agreed to leave the area. The incident happened Sept. 7.
- A Nike backpack containing a TD Bank debit card was turned into Northport Police headquarters after it was found at Steers Beach. After police couldn't contact the owner, the backpack was placed in the bin on Sept. 8.
- A man with a fractured ankle at the Northport Yacht Club was transported to Huntington Hospital on Sept. 8.
- A student went into headquarters to ask about his lost backpack containing a laptop along with other school materials. The officer interviewed the teenage boy, who said he left his backpack at Steers Beach on the night of Sept. 6, but remembered he did so on Sept. 8. The student requires a police report for Northport High School because the laptop is registered through the school.
- An intoxicated man refused to leave Napper Tandy's on Sept. 8.
