Northport PD Blotter: Man Trying To Hitchhike Lived Nearby
No arrests were made last week, but officers still responded to several incidents, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from April 6 through 12.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A man was hitchhiking with a few bottles of wine. When police arrived, the man was walking on the side of the road on Main Street, and he only lived a couple of blocks away. He was warned and admonished by police. The incident happened April 6.
- A woman living on Woodbine Avenue tested positive for COVID-19. She was wearing a mask as she left her home and was placed in an ambulance. This happened April 6.
- A woman told police she saw four youths hanging out near the Village Park waterfront. She told them they shouldn't be hanging out that close to one another, due to the new coronavirus and social distancing. The youths told the woman to mind her own business, according to police. When the officer arrived to the waterfront, the youths had left. The incident happened April 6.
- A white car was blasting music at Lewis Oliver Farm Sanctuary at 8 p.m. April 6, but was gone when police arrived.
- Police went to Earl Avenue for a report of a man in dark clothing peering into yards. Police stopped the man, who appeared to be very confused, said he had two seizures and needed medical help. Northport Rescue brought the man to Huntington Hospital. The incident happened April 6.
- Police responded to Highland Avenue for a neighbor dispute. The man who called said while he was outside doing yard work with his wife, his neighbor who he's had ongoing problems with called him "jackass." The man filed the report for informational purposes on April 7.
- Police responded to Scudder Park for a report of a man acting strange. He appeared to simply be enjoying the beach after being home all day. The incident happened April 8.
- Someone called police to report a large group of people potentially not following social distancing guidelines at Municipal Lot #2 on Woodbine Avenue, but a police officer didn't see any violations. The incident happened April 12.
- Police responded to Lindberg Court on April 12 for a report of a sick man. A Northport Fire Department paramedic said rescue would not respond for the "acute symptoms" the man said he had, according to police. A VA Hospital emergency room nurse said the man would likely be turned away and suggested he take Tylenol for the fever and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, police said. The man was told to call again if the symptoms became more severe.
- Police responded to Village Dock for a report of a drunk man on the dock. The officer spoke with the man, who said he was headed towards his friend's house. The officer brought the man to his friend's house. The incident happened 7:30 p.m. April 12.
