Northport PD Blotter: Officers Help With Overturned-Boat Rescue

ALSO: An officer hung out with a driver whose car sustained a flat until the driver's friend came and repaired the tire, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from July 6 through July 12.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A woman said her car was hit by an unknown vehicle at Municipal Lot #2 on Woodbine Avenue on July 6.
  • Two people involved in a car accident not investigated at the scene by police went to police headquarters to exchange information. The crash happened at Robkes parking lot around 3 p.m. July 6. The drivers filed the report at police headquarters an hour later.
  • Northport police responded to West Waterview Street to help Suffolk police with an overturned boat. Northport police helped Suffolk police find the vessel and remained at the scene until the boaters were safely brought to land. The incident happened July 7.
  • A parking complaint was filed against a car parked in Municipal Lot #6 on Main Street. Police issued the appropriate summons and attempted to contact the owner. The incident happened July 8.
  • There was a car crash in Municipal Lot #1 in Constitution Square on July 8. A witness got an officer's attention. An unoccupied car was parked in the lot when another vehicle struck it. The woman driving the car said she mistakenly put her foot on the gas instead of the brake. Both complainants wanted to exchange insurance information.
  • A boy stepped in wet cement on Main Street on July 8.
  • A man went to police headquarters on July 8 to inform them he lost his New York State driver's license by the fire department.
  • Someone's car became disabled on Scudder Avenue on July 9. The car had a flat front
    passenger side tire. An officer was able to change the tire and get the vehicle operable again.
  • While patrolling Woodbine Avenue, an officer came upon a disabled car with a flat tire. The driver was waiting for a friend who was bringing tools to help change the tire. The officer remained to ensure the safety of the driver and friend until the car was repaired and moved. The incident happened July 10.
  • A car got stuck on the front lawn of a Steers Avenue home. Police helped get the driver off the lawn and back onto the roadway. The incident happened July 10.
  • Police responded to Hill Street for a report of an injured deer in the road. When the officer got there, the deer ran into the woods. The incident happened July 10.
  • A roof fire broke out at Northport Power Station around 4 a.m. July 11. Northport police remained until enough Suffolk police units arrived.
  • A large group of youths was reported to be causing a disturbance on Steers Beach. Northport police found the group and dispersed them without incident. This happened July 11.
  • Police responded to Scudder Avenue for a report of a man with severe burns from a barbecue. The man had burns to his head, arms, chest and legs. Northport Rescue brought him to Stony Brook Hospital. The incident happened July 12.
